My art tends to be pretty representational – it looks like something, usually something in nature. You don’t have to guess what I was going for. It’s a tree or flowers or a beach. Once in a while, I wander out of my comfort zone into the world of abstract art. It’s hard for me because my mind wants to make the piece look like something. But when I embrace the abstract and let go, there is a freedom that comes when it doesn’t have to look like something. It’s just whatever comes out of my head that day. Sometimes, when I play in abstract-land, I make something I like. This is one of those. Sometimes it turns out really bad (and you will never see those!) But the playing itself was good for me, pushed me a little. And the next time I wander there, I have more fun.
