Think Small

Making art in difficult times can sometimes be challenging.

Fancy Fish, River, & Doodle Tree – Ink drawings  5”x5” framed – $40 each

In 2015 I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  (Don’t worry, I’m fine now.)  But I went through 6 months of chemo treatments.  Once a week, I sat for 2-4 hours while drugs were pumped into my veins.  To pass the time, I started doing Zen Doodles– black ink pen drawings in a 4” square of white art paper.  My little doodles helped me get through some tough days when my brain just couldn’t handle creating art that was bigger than a 4” square.  I allowed myself to scale back to what I could do in my circumstances; to lower my expectations of myself.  And though I was limited by space, color and brain power, I managed to make some fun pieces of art.
