A favorite quilters’ quote is “Better done than perfect.”

Tree 23 – Dye, Fabric Paint, Yarn, Fused Fabric, Quilted -27”x36” – $250

January was kind of a down time for me. November and December were super busy and fun.  But January had no deadlines. There were fires close to my friends in LA. Politics got weird. And my creative brain decided to take a break. So, instead, I cleaned!

As I was cleaning out my fabric stash and putting stuff into appropriately labeled boxes, I came across a box labeled “UFOs” (Unfinished Fabric Objects). In it, I found this tree piece. The background was created by my friend, Zannah Martin, who gave it to me back in 2002 (I think). I added the yarn tree outline and the fabric leaves in 2010. I intended to quilt it. But there it was, still in my UFO box.

I figured if I wasn’t feeling creative, this was a good time to finish something I had made during a previous creative streak. So, here it is, 23 years in the making, but finally done!

Now, I should probably look at what else is in that box!
