Here’s a little sunshine, just in case it’s not available where you are.

If you look at this piece closely, you will find  a bicycle, a motorcycle, 6 cats, 2 dogs, 2 butterflies, 4 fish, an owl, a flamingo, a rooster and 3 other birds, a crab, a turtle, a fox and a giraffe – not your typical neighborhood!  This piece won “Best of Show” in the Art Quilt category at last summer’s Marin County Fair.  I was really pleased, but also surprised.  The animals are all different sizes.  The lines aren’t straight.  Nothing is precise. While it is a fun piece, it is pretty wonky.  But the judges liked it!  Evidently, they weren’t looking for precise.  They were looking for fun and this piece made them smile.

You’d think I’d remember that and stop worrying so much about whether the things I do are perfect. But I continue to stress over details that don’t really matter.  Go figure.
