To Be, To Quilt

Even when it’s hot outside, a quilt can still be good to have around.

To Be, To Quilt – 48″ x 48″ – $350

After dealing with a lot of stressful stuff, I needed a break.  But I don’t do breaks well.  I still want to keep busy.  I just don’t want to think very much.  And I want to be distracted from the crazy world.  So, I found a really simple pattern and used as many different fun fabrics as I could from my stash.  Making the quilt gave me the break I needed and made me happy.

If you look closely at the larger squares starting in the upper left and going diagonally down, you will see that it says, “To be, to quilt, to salve that sea of troubles.”  I stole most of that from Hamlet, but I think Shakespeare would approve.  I do believe that colorful quilts – and all beautiful things – help us keep our heads above water when the “sea of troubles” gets rough.
