I hope you are all staying cool!

Right now I am having kind of a love/hate relationship with the sun. On the “love” side, there is the fact that we can’t live without it. And sunrises and sunsets are pretty amazing. But I REALLY wish is wasn’t so darn hot! We are having an extended heat wave. It’s made me tired, grumpy and sweaty. That’s the “hate” part.  “Morning Sun” is my version of our lovely and irritating sun. Irritation is hard to depict, so I focused on the beauty. Probably not a bad idea for other things, too!

Like most of my artwork, this is fabric. I tie-dyed the sun’s center.  Then I used layers of wax and dye to create the flames.  Instead of submerging the piece in dye, I painted the dye on.  This allowed me to have a little more control over the colors.
